Soil Brightness

Soil Brightness

High resolution soil brightness scanning is the revolutionary, low cost, high accuracy service for creating soil management zones.

Soil brightness uses 5m resolution satellite imagery which measures light reflecting from the soil surface in four different wavebands (including infra-red).

Variation in soil brightness can indicate a change in soil texture, moisture, organic matter, calcium carbonate and stone content.

Once the variation is mapped soil brightness can be combined with laser texturing for even greater accuracy. Textural classification is reported as the percentage of sand, silt and clay for each zone and can help target inputs with enhanced precision.

We will already have historic soil brightness scans for your farm. This means you can be set up at any time of the year and the process is very quick.
